Plan a Health Presentation

Are you a health care provider interested in providing your patients with strategies for healthy living? Then… Let’s talk about your group’s goals and needs! Choose from topics described below or call for customization.

Eat Simple, Delicious, Healthy, Nutritious (55 minutes)
Learn what you can do to impact better nutritional health for yourself and your family. Find out why it’s so important to avoid processed foods and how their hidden sugars, sodium, and unhealthy fats are affecting your health. Gain an understanding of how the physiology of carbohydrate addiction and over consumption of trans-fats can lead to chronic inflammation. Learn tips, strategies and recipes to keep life simple, practical and enjoyable while eliminating processed foods from your diet and lifestyle.

Good Food on a Tight Budget (55 minutes)
Often offered in conjunction with Eat Simple, Delicious, Healthy, Nutritious, this discussion includes a 36 page shopping and cooking guide published by The Environmental Working Group in collaboration with Cooking Matters. This information is used nationally to teach families at risk of hunger how to get more food for their money, and better nourishment from those foods, as part of the No Kid Hungry® campaign. It also provides practical, handy advice for anyone who shops and cooks for a family.

Metabolic Syndrome and Your Health Risks (55 minutes)
Metabolic syndrome, (AKA “Syndrome X”), is a cluster of the most dangerous heart attack risk factors: diabetes and pre-diabetes, abdominal obesity, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. A quarter of the world’s adults have metabolic syndrome and are twice as likely to die from, and three times as likely to have a heart attack or stroke compared with people without the syndrome. People with metabolic syndrome have a five-fold greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes and up to 80% of the 200 million people with diabetes globally will die of cardiovascular disease. The syndrome, however, is poorly recognized. Learn how to recognize, reverse, and prevent metabolic syndrome.

Biometric Screening and Body Composition Analysis; What do the Numbers Mean? (55 minutes)
Biometric screenings provide important information on current and potential health problems. When combined with a health risk assessment by a qualified health professional, individuals have reliable information about their status or risk for metabolic syndrome and chronic preventable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. The numbers provide important baseline data to determine health interventions and shape the direction of wellness programs. Body composition analysis is extremely useful for monitoring weight gain or loss, muscle and fat percentages, basal metabolic rate, and unhealthy visceral fat assessment.

Fed-Up, the Movie- Screening and discussion (99 min film; 30 min discussion)
“Everything we’ve been told about food and exercise for the past 30 years is dead wrong. FED UP is the film the food industry doesn’t want you to see. From Katie Couric, Laurie David (Oscar winning producer of AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH) and director Stephanie Soechtig, FED UP will change the way you eat forever.”
